PROJECT ENGINEER - MECHANICAL

DETAILS

Responsibilities and Roles:  

  • Acting as the main mechanical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, crafts people and operatives;
  • Checking mechanical plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations;
  • Ensuring all mechanical material used and work performed are as per specifications;
  • Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant;
  • Agreeing a price for materials, and making cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project
  • Managing, monitoring and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the Vendors/Consultant/Architect;
  • Liaising with any consultants, sub-contractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project. 
  • Liaising with the local authority to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws;
  • Liaising with consultant and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress;
  • Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors;
  • Planning the work and efficiently organizing the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines;
  • Preparing reports as required;
  • Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties, and other problems that may arise.
  • Design, research and technical development of equipment in conjunction with suppliers, R&D and Central/Regional Engineering/MOS.
  • Manage projects and contractors to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety act and AIB regulations.
  • Ensure all manuals and drawings are updated as per project.
  • Managing the erection, installation & commissioning of process equipment, packing equipment, Utilities, Refrigeration systems, firefighting systems-FM Global compliance, plant piping, different mechanical structures, integration of plant utilities with proprietary packing & process equipment.
  • Knowledge of food safe erection, installation is must

Requirements and Skills: 

   

  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering                              
  • With 5 to 7 years project experience
  • Well versed with Site safety, FM Global compliance
  • Working on large scale project – Green Field (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering standards, methodologies,
  • Plant Utility-equipment, piping layouts, structures, current technologies
  • Contracting, legal, commercial terms
  • Knowledge of mechanical drawings, tender documents, BOQ’s
  • Purchase procedures
  • Project scheduling
  • Resource planning & management 
  • Working with multinational (FMCG), food companies/projects (preferred)
  • Operational knowledge of working in the processing plants/food setup would be an advantage
  • Communication and negotiation skills (well versed in English)   
  • Computer literate
